Princeton, NJ – January 2, 2007 – Aton Pharma, Inc., a global specialty pharmaceutical company, announced today a strategic partnership with the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) for the management and administration of a patient assistance program (PAP) to ensure patient access to the Aton product portfolio of essential treatments for rare diseases. The PAP program is designed to assist eligible patients in obtaining their medicines free of charge if they do not have prescription coverage and are unable to pay for their medicines. NORD will be responsible for the daily administration of the program, including the patient application process and product distribution to licensed physicians and pharmacies.

“ATON and NORD share a common vision – to assist individuals in obtaining life-saving or life-sustaining medicines in the treatment of rare diseases,” Said Michael Wells, president and CEO of Atom Pharma. “NORD’s customer focus, as well as detailed patient and disease understanding, will allow us to meet the needs of physicians and patients to provide the products and information necessary to improve patient outcomes and quality of life. NORD’s PAP programs have set the standards for fairness, equity, confidentiality and unbiased eligibility.”

“We are extremely pleased to be partnering with Aton and to be working closely with them in the treatment of rare diseases,” Said Abbey Meyers, president of NORD. “Our alliance with Aton allows us to expand our capabilities in helping patients with rare metabolic, neurological, cardiovascular and ophthalmic diseases. Eligible uninsured or under-insured patients will receive access to needed medicines that they may not have been able to obtain otherwise.”
